Project Overview
In September 2019, LUX partnered with Oxygen Events to create an unforgettable immersive dining experience at one of London’s most iconic botanical venues — Kew Gardens. The brief was to design and install two 20-metre fairy-light canopy tunnels, forming a warm and inviting architectural feature inside one of the gardens’ stunning conservatories.
Objectives:
To deliver a striking yet intimate lighting installation that would define the dining space, frame the natural beauty of the venue, and create an immersive atmosphere for guests.
Brief:
Design, fabricate, and install two 20m-long light tunnels, integrating thousands of warm white pea lights to complement the conservatory’s existing architecture and botanical surroundings — all within a very limited installation window.

Project Fulfilment
Technical Design & Build:
We fabricated bespoke supporting frames capable of holding over 2km of LED warm white pea lights. The framework was designed for rapid onsite assembly without impacting the delicate venue environment.
Installation:
The entire structure and lighting installation were completed within a two-hour turnaround, working in harmony with venue restrictions and event timelines. The result was a glowing, tunnel-like canopy that framed the dining area and bathed guests in a soft, inviting light.

Personal Insight
This project was as much about atmosphere as it was about engineering. Seeing guests walk through the tunnels, framed by thousands of tiny warm lights, was pure magic. Working in such an iconic venue with a client as creative as Oxygen Events made it one of those jobs you never forget — quick to install, beautiful to behold, and a joy to deliver.
